Three working days are required to allow time to process your request. If ordering by phone please state the name, address & telephone number of the person needing the prescription; list the medications clearly by name or spell out the name of the drug if you have difficulty pronouncing it.
Your prescription will then be sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy.
Tramadol Prescribing Policy at Regent Square Group Practice
The Doctors at the practice recently reviewed the prescribing of Tramadol in the light of growing concerns about its safety and effectiveness. It has been shown to be less safe than other analgesics and not as effective as previously thought in controlling pain.
It has been decided that we will no longer prescribe Tramadol for acute pain relief within the practice.
Those patients who are taking Tramadol as a repeat medication will be offered the opportunity to discuss their medication with their doctor, in the hope that an alternative analgesic can be identified for their needs. Those patients whose Tramadol has been initiated by the hospital or another GP practice will also have their prescriptions reviewed. It is important not to stop your repeat Tramadol medication abruptly.
